Zusammenfassung:An examination of recent developments in immigration policy & practice in Canada & Australia & a review of government reports dealing with population & immigration questions, comparing & contrasting the situation in the two countries. Statistics are provided for the period 1968 to 1975 concerning numbers of immigrants, source countries, & intended occupations. Questions of racial & national discrimination in admission to Canada & Australia are considered. As formal discrimination on racial grounds has been removed, new opposition to immigration has emerged under the guise of limiting ecological damage & promoting zero population growth. Nevertheless, governments in both countries favor the maintenance of moderate levels of immigration in the foreseeable future. 5 Tables. AA.
