Environmental policy enactment under the military: Some generalities between Brazil and Chile

A study of some economic policies that have had devastating impact on the environment, for which both military regimes in Brazil and Chile have remained blameless, is presented. Environmental protection laws were as foreign to both countries as constitutional and democratic rights.
