Zusammenfassung: | The Mexico-US border region's need for greater attention from both the US and Mexican governments can be best addressed by recasting many border issues as public safety issues. Binational efforts have been compromised by Mexican law that recognizes the rights of Mexican citizens to cross the border. The immigration control model has not worked, despite expanded US efforts. The focus should be on regional efforts to control exploitative practices and criminality and to improve infrastructure and living conditions. |
