Zusammenfassung:Constitutional theory in the United States has aspired to achieve an understanding of the political order of the community that is consistent with the expression of individual autonomy. The writer demonstrates that the community of discourse provides a conceptual model of order common to diverse efforts in contemporary constitutional theory. He comments that the idea of discursive particularity is attractive as part of constitutional theory. The final aspect considered is the fact that none of the contemporary theorists have used the model to support a political structure of authority.
