Articles published in the Journal of International Relations and Development that have met this challenge are identified, including Beck (2000) on the convergent interests of the Palestinian authority, the Israeli government, & Western governments of not promoting a democratic polity in the Palestinian territories; Galtung (1998) on economism in Islamic countries; Svetlicic (2000) & Hettne & Soderbaum (1999) on disparities between the rich & poor; & Groom (2003) on the need for democratic leadership from the US.
