The Lens of Juche: Understanding the reality of North Korean policymakers

This article analyzes the motivations behind the North Korean regime's behavior through the lens of its official ideology, juche. By understanding the ideological, cultural and historical influences on the thinking and objectives of North Korean policymakers, this article hopes to provide a better framework for US policymakers when assessing and responding to the North Korean threat.
