Zusammenfassung: | An introduction to social protection in Latin America, which accounts for all social security system policies enacted to guarantee protection. The journal specifically starts with the labor market, as its performance has a direct impact on the social protection programs implemented; other topics discussed are the safety net role played by social protection programs, retirement & pension schemes, social welfare, protection against occupational problems, health coverage, & unemployment social insurance especially in light of informal work sectors. The journal discusses the current obstacles facing the informal work sectors, exogenous economic forces, institutional problems, lack of access to social benefits, & the large gap of coverage for the poor. There is much progress still to be made in standardizing social protection benefits. 12 References. G. Chen |
