Zusammenfassung: | Two censuses (1980 & 1997) have been organized in Mozambique since independence with the 17-year gap between them a result of the war that ravaged the country. There, based on the CD-rom published in 1999 by the Mozambique Instit nacional de estatistica (INE), a map was made using the data covering demography (population density, sex ratio, infant mortality, life expectancy), social & health issues (handicaps, water supplies, electricity, toilets), culture (illiteracy; five Bantu languages: Emakhuwa, Xichangana, Elomwe, Echuwabo, Cisena; the official language: Portuguese) & religion (Catholicism, Islam, evangelical Protestantism, Zionism). These data were supplemented by that on the INE website. However, cartography is of course dependent on the quality of the statistical surveys, which is subject to material, political, & ideological interference. Thus, this cartographic representation should in turn be analyzed & submitted for criticism. 13 Tables, 25 Maps. Adapted from the source document. |
