Zusammenfassung: | A review essay on books by (1) Anthony Giddens (Ed), The Global Third Way Debate (Cambridge: Polity, 2001); (2) Anthony Giddens (Ed), Where Now for New Labour? (Cambridge: Polity, 2002); (3) Alex Callinicos, Against the Third Way: An Anti-Capitalist Critique (Cambridge: Polity, 2001); & (4) Otto Newman & Richard de Zoysa, The Promise of the Third Way (Basingstoke, UK: Palgrave, 2001). Giddens's collection, The Global Third Way Debate, is deemed useful for its multiple perspectives. Giddens's other edition applies the Third Way's to the economic aftermath of September 11 (2001) & seeks to flesh out the Third Way approach & policy, eschewing theoretical discussion. Newman & de Zoysa offer more cogent criticisms of Blair's Third Way than Callinicos, & their proposals are more viable because they do not seek to replace the Third Way but rather seek to work within Third Way politics. 24 References.
