Zusammenfassung: | Students of public administration have looked mainly at immediate problems and current experience, despite considerable attention given by historians to the administrative institutions of the past. By contrast, students and even practitioners of political institution building often looked down the whole length of recorded thought and experience in making their analyses and considering their action. A sample of the rich vein of recorded administrative experience is noted here in a brief survey of public administration in ancient Egypt, Athens, and Rome. |
