Zusammenfassung: | While recent studies have demonstrated the presence and vitality of kinship groupings in our urban areas, there has been little systematic research evidence to indicate the relationship of such groupings to migrant status and behavior patterns. An examination of the kin group relations of 1093 randomly selected newcomers to the Cape Kennedy region of east-central Florida indicates that kinship interaction does not function as an important variable in relation to the social integration of internal migrants. None of the hypotheses dealing with the question of whether the community adjustment of migrants was dependent upon their extended family ties was supported. |
