Relationships of Man to the Land in Iraq

Inequality in ownership of the land has been esp responsible for the inferior position of the peasants & their depressed econ conditions in Iraq. Their growing discontent is resulting in heavy migration to the cities. In spite of recent efforts of the gov to redistribute rights to the land & to improve tenure conditions, many land problems still prevail which are likely to persist for some time. The study is based upon personal observations, supplemented by information obtained from Iraqi official sources. AA.
