Zusammenfassung:This article analyzes the consequences of the interaction between social & economic politics in the processes of de-impoverishment or the emergence from poverty in Peru, particularly during the 1990s. Analysis focuses on the growth in the number of social assistance programs & their effect on the poor & those lacking resources. An attempt is made to determine whether poverty has actually diminished, & what this might signify. For this, the recent history of the process of de-impoverishment in Peru is presented, & a demonstration of the development of social policies & aid, particularly the provision of basic food products, which is intended to soften the policies of structural change. Analyzed in conclusion are the social effects of programs intended to fight poverty. 11 Tables, 3 Appendixes, 47 References. Adapted from the source document.
