This work summarizes the most important changes in the Mexican political system in recent years & the risks to functionality presented by the alterations to the presidency & the existence of a divided government. The problem is addressed from four perspectives: the internal composition of the party system, the principal organizational challenges within the parties, regulations & definitions in the electoral system that affect the behavior of the parties, & the relations established among the parties in Congress, & between the Congress & the Executive branch. 4 Tables.
