Trade Policy Review of Poland, 2000

The article discusses Poland's trade policy as it moves toward full membership in the EU. Poland's progress in the liberalizing reforms put forth by the WTO Agreements has been notable & is here documented, although its EU accession will surely pose new tariff, sectoral, & industrial challenges for policymakers. Other problems are relatively minor & not trade-specific, suggesting that the EU need no longer regard Poland as a transition economy nor subject it to membership double standards that have not been applied to Western European countries' accession. 5 Tables, 20 References.
