Zusammenfassung: | It is maintained that soc anthrop differs from sociol not in subject matter or methods but in its problems & attempted solutions. This follows K. R. Popper's view of the nature of sci. Diff solutions are evident in particular paradigms of res; these facilitate res up to a point but then become restrictive. Their hold may be broken by outsiders from other spheres - ie, R. E. Park-or from other disciplines-W. L. Warner. How the paradigm of the soc survey was supplanted in British sociol is shown. The rise, & the limitations, of the community study paradigm is discussed. Situational analysis & role analysis offer new approaches to the study of interpersonal relations. In both fields anthrop'ts are helping to develop new perspectives in sociol. AA. |
