Avoidance, aggressive response, acceptance, & constructive behavior constitute a hierarchy of response. It is of practical importance to realize: (a) that attitude plays a major role in reaction to environmental conditions; (b) that attitude is most influential when the stress is moderate; (c) apparently unrelated factors can influence att; & (d) control of attitude offers an important method of regulating adjustment.
