Zusammenfassung: | There are two ways of addressing the role of the European Union (EU) as an economic actor in the WTO. This can be either from the perspective of the EU itself or from the perspective of the WTO. This contribution will focus on the latter; ie, how is the EU perceived by the other WTO Members -- politically, legally, & economically? In addition, what specific features distinguish the EU within the WTO? These questions will be answered in the form of four conclusions. The first refers to the economic strength of the EU, the second deals with the complexity of EU institutions, the third with the future dilemma for EU agriculture, & the fourth addresses the problem of the EU legislative coverage.
