Zusammenfassung: | In the past 100 yrs sci has come to be accepted as a respectable academic discipline, has become a major influence on the daily lives of the people & has realized the need to bridge the gap between itself & society. Dangers of expediency & pol'al .involvement over major concerns of humanity has led to rethinking of the responsibility of sci. 3 characteristics are suggested as essential to sci teaching: (1) humanism, (2) intelligibility, & (3) a recognition of mystery. These should do much to emphasize the need for the sci'st to be a man first & a sci'st second. J. A. Jackson. |
