Zusammenfassung: | Max Weber constructed 3 ideal types of authority-traditional, charismatic, & legal-rational. He claimed these types to be exhaustive of the empirical cases of authority. However, these types were drawn in relation to his 4 types of action & 4 types of legitimate order. In this context it is clear that 1 type is missing from his analysis. Starting with 'value rational' action & order legitimation, it is possible to derive a 4th, 'ideological' authority type based on faith in a rationalized set of norms. Its pure type is the party organized around questions of faith. The type is equally applicable to dogmatic religious sects & ideologically centered parties. It provides an extension of the original typology that is essential for modern pol'al analysis. ' A. |
