Zusammenfassung: | This article examines the legal challenges faced by the state-based system of physician licensure for the practice of telemedicine across state lines & describes the current system by which a person obtains the state's permission to exercise a particular profession in that state. The article also considers the extent to which telemedicine should fall within the range of such licensing requirements, analyzes current licensing requirements as applicable to telemedicine, & questions whether the practice of telemedicine is appropriate for regulation by state licensing boards. It lists several prominent proposals for reforms of the states' physician licensing statutes, even though the majority of states have not yet addressed this issue. It concludes that one way to tackle this issue could be a federal physician license, which would be valid across state borders. 3 References. E. Sanchez |
