Zusammenfassung: | In this essay the author shows that the American type of sociology practiced at McGill under Carl A. Dawson from the twenties to the fifties (& almost completely influenced by the human ecology paradigm of the Chicago School) was not the only one that appealed to Canadian sociologists. On the contrary sociologists like Mclver and Urwick were leaning toward a more philosophical, moral, & humanistic social science, one that would reconcile the research of facts with a "Victorian" tradition of moral concerns.
