Zusammenfassung: | Discusses Taking Place, a women's group that seeks to offer a commune with womanhood via different avenues, such as art instalations. At present, a series called The Other Side of Waiting is being fomented and will be shown in spaces such as the Mother and Baby Unit in Homerton Hospital in London. Such exhibits will focus on infants and mothers, such as illustrating how the mother is artificially simulated for premature babies cared for in incubators. Further discusses the central viewpoint taken by the group, to bring to light the little-considered spaces that are utilized by mothers, babies, and even fathers, particularly before, after, and during natal periods. Further, such spaces are also used by midwives, doctors, and others involved in the birthing experience, and often use such spaces differently, or with different viewpoints, all of which the author examines and interprets in her artwork.
