Are Union Members Necessary?

In the postmodern era, societal change has transformed social movements; virtual movements seem to indicate that the need for a rank & file union or organization membership no longer is implicit in the structure of movements, as can be seen in the decline in membership in trade union & other organizations that further movement goals.
