Zusammenfassung:Part of a special issue on racial profiling, reparations, and critical pedagogy. The writer examines one proposed method by which the U.S. and Europe may make reparations to African people through a redistribution of global capital--the issuance of special drawing rights (SDRs) from their shares allocated in the International Monetary Fund. Her analysis suggests that restitution through SDR redistribution could be an effective and flexible means of returning a rightful share of control over existing social productive capacity to African people whose historical exploitation under slavery helped accumulate the wealth that underpins the globalized production system.
