Zusammenfassung: | One key element of visions & divisions of modern society is socioprofessional classification. This mode of representing social structure is, according to its historical & intercultural varieties, intermingled with the functions of the respective national states & determined by a specific juridical & administrative logic of government. The German example is insofar significant, as it shows quite a close affinity between state & statistical representation of society, because German socioprofessional categories were introduced during the Bismarck era & haven't been changed since then. Our contribution tries to analyze the historical development of this diversification & its impact on the representative level of social reality (by using the French system of socioprofessional classification by means of contrast), & summarizes generally the conditions for the construction of comparable & uniform European instruments of statistical representations of society. 2 Tables, 49 References.
