Plus Ça Change, Plus C'est La Même Chose: Advancing the Dialogue

In honor of its 25th year of publication, the journal Human Studies is applauded for its outstanding contributions to scholarship in the human sciences. Several key thematic issues are reviewed, & the journal's role in publishing articles that might otherwise never have received attention is lauded. The difficulties faced by social scientists using qualitative methods in the US, which continues to bestow funding primarily on the hard sciences & quantitative research, are examined, focusing on the field of educational research. It is argued that, although human studies has won acceptance in the academy, it must move into the "real world" & demonstrate practical applications to maintain viability; implications for other journals like Human Studies are discussed. 3 References.
