Zusammenfassung: | PHARMACEUTICALS AND PRODUCTIVITY The relationship between per capita total pharmaceutical spending and per capita gross domestic product (GDP) is depicted in Figure 14 The straight line represents the expected rate of change in per capita gross domestic product between successive time periods for a unit increase in per capita pharmaceutical spending between successive time periods.\n The reported structures show that the models are free from (positive or negative) autocorrelation. (e) For models 1 and 3 the studentized residuals signal that the regress and observations for 1997 and 2000 are different in relation to the other observations in the sample period. Records from NEDLAC30 show that 1997 corresponds to the legislature suspending from enactment the Medicines and Related Substances Control Amendment Act of 1997 pending judicial clarification that the Act does not arbitrarily nullify product patents amongst others. 2000 corresponds to the South African government withdrawing the South African Medicines and Medical Devices Regulatory Authority Act of 1998, which had inadvertently cancelled the legal framework governing market relations concerning the production, quality standards, sale, distribution, and dispensation of medicines. (g) The Dffits outlier diagnostic confirms that these data points are an integral part of the data series and not outliers to it. |
