Kinship and debt: The social organization of Bugis migration and fish marketing at Lake Lindu, Central Sulawesi

Describes the emergence of the hierarchical system of processing & marketing fish from Lake Lindu by Bugis migrants in central Sulawesi, Indonesia, & how this affected the social organization of the indigenous Lindu people. Factors underlying this migration are identified, noting different motivations & recruitment strategies; four distinct migration & settlement patterns are identified.
