Zusammenfassung: | Subaltern Studies, an Indian series of collected essays whose publication began almost 20 years ago, was born under the auspices of radical social history, & has now become a major entry point of postmodernist ideas in the field of South Asian social sciences. The critique of Enlightenment rationality, the metanarratives of progress, & the nation-state that underlies the work of its contributors, mostly South Asian social scientists not infrequently associated with North American universities, is intimately correlated with the discourse of postmodernity. As a result, the audience of the series is now expanding in other areas of the formerly colonized world. 51 References. Adapted from the source document. |
