Zusammenfassung: | Part two consists of a series of shorter essays, reflecting the above themes, but highlighting more personal reminiscences of David's professional life as a teacher, scholar, and public intellectual. In both speech and manner, David came to personify for many the quintessential Englishman: no one who ever heard it will soon forget his mellifluous baritone voice, each word enunciated in an impeccable, crisp, Oxbridge accent.\n My work on indigenous rights in Mexico, specifically explaining why, despite many commonalities, there was not a rebellion in the Sierra Tarahumara whereas there was one in Chiapas (where I had worked earlier with Vogtie as an undergraduate), similarly bears the unmistakable impress of David's activism and intellectual direction. |
