Future Challenges -- From an Analysis of Genetics and Biotechnology in Portuguese Press during 1994/5 to New Technologies in Actual Societies

This study analyses the frequency & content of news about genome, genetics & biotechnology mainly on agricultural & medicine/human health domains in the Portuguese press. Results are discussed considering studies about genetics & biotechnology in International, Brazilian & Portuguese press (Gutteling et al., 2002; Tognolli, 2003; Garcia, 2004) & issues of public opinion & social amplification of risk (Frewer et al. 2002).
