Tiananmen: The Papers and the Story

Moody discusses "The Tiananmen Papers," a publication by Zhang Liang and translated and edited by Andrew Nathan claiming to include transcripts of secret discussions among China's elite during the tumultuous spring of 1989. While the English translation presents itself as a collection of primary documents, the Chinese version is a chronological analytic narrative, incorporating very extensive quotations.
