Zusammenfassung: | Kraig lays out the broad parameters for more effective bilateral and multilateral security policies within the region, as well as policies of external powers toward the region. He concludes that the road to Gulf security is not paved with programs for radical reshaping of other societies along lines reflecting US values and institutions. Nor will it he guaranteed by maintaining global military primacy. Instead, a peaceful Persian Gulf is one in which large regional powers such as Iran and Saudi Arabia coexist with all their smaller neighbors in a mutually beneficial set of relationships based on prosperity and respect rather than fear and domination. |
