Beebe's article, 54 (1) Spring 95, p.42-51 and his call for explicating how rapid appraisal is different from traditional ethnography, and providing those who are unfamiliar with qualitative techniques with an introduction to rapid appraisals and rationales for using the approach. Seeks to answer this call by defining Rapid Assessment Procedures as it is applied to public health problems, and by providing an introduction to RAP by critiquing RAP based on standards which may be more familiar (accuracy, utility, feasibliity and propriety).
