Zusammenfassung: | The current debate on the transformations that affect citizenship in contemporary societies seems to pay little attention to the changes that are taking place in those spaces -- geographical & virtual -- in which citizen practices develop. Nevertheless, the spatial dimension outstands in the discussion on the characteristics & effects of globalization. From this starting point, this paper aims to stress the relevance of studying the demonstration -- understood as an expression of the politics of contention -- , as a singular event in which the complexity of the old & new repertoires employed by old & new actors, in old & new spaces should be analyzed. For this purpose, the demonstration against the war that took place in Madrid on February the 15th, 2003, is chosen as a case study. References. Adapted from the source document. |
