Zusammenfassung: | Migration and globalization have been transforming traditional
demographic, economic, and political structures all around the world.
Education, the mass media, and naturalization on the other hand, are
creating new opportunity spaces for diaspora communities. In this
ongoing process, migrants as transnational citizens have empowered
their communities by establishing social networks and civil organizations,
and through cultural and economic integration and political participation.
Neither social scientists nor decision makers can ignore the potential
influence of these communities on regional and international relations.
In Euro-Turks and Turkey-EU Relations: The Dutch Case, Talip
Küçükcan and Veyis Güngör address the challenges that diasporic
communities face, and the opportunities they can create as far as strategic partnerships and
international relations are concerned. |
