Zusammenfassung: | Integrated Coastal Management in the Russian Federation is in its infancy. For the Kaliningrad Region, which has a strategically important coastline, coastal planning and coastal management practitioners will be important in the future. An academic partnership between Kaliningrad State Technical University in the Russian Federation and Southampton Institute in the United Kingdom has developed a specialization in Integrated Coastal Management within the established undergraduate fishery science courses. Materials development has been drawn from western sources, Kaliningrad Region case study opportunities and external links. Initial research into prospects for graduates from this course of study is encouraging and students interest in the new course has been significant. Future aspirations include broadening the academic network within the Russian Federation and Baltic area, and developing additional Russian language teaching material. |
