Zusammenfassung: | This address surveys essential categories of measures of transitional justice undertaken for the protection of refugees until refugees are able to provide their own solution to their plight. Transitional justice generally serves the legal standing of the refugees but does not often succeed in encompassing the human element of the refugee experience. Furthermore, legal refugee status may cease to apply even while the conditions which initially gave rise to the refugee situation continue to exist. Detailing an array of protective measures for refugees, the potential disadvantages to each are also discussed here to suggest an expanded investment in dialog concerning the humanistic qualitative elements of refugee existence.
