Zusammenfassung:Presents a comprehensive guide to American Indian treaties between tribes & the federal government that have been cited within proceedings at the State Court level. They cover a broad scope of concerns, including water rights, gambling, & hunting/fishing issues. A total of 428 citations to 131 ratified treaties found in 246 State Court opinions from 30 states during the years 1800 to 2004 were selected by using each treaty's Statues at Large reference. It is pointed out that major issues like the six gathering rights cases before the Supreme Court of Idaho take time to solve & equitable solutions are frequently delayed or never found. These treaty issues are not restricted to states in the western half of the US & in the great majority of cases the courts relied on law as stated in old treaties/treaty substitutes. It is maintained that State Courts will be "called upon again in the future to resolve the contents of these documents.". 1 Table, 1 Appendix, 81 References. J. Lindroth
