For migrant Turkish women in Germany, daily life is far more diverse than the stereotyped images Germans have become accustomed to. Daughters from immigrant families show a great interest in education and want to advance professionally. Many find ways of fulfilling their wishes. A job and income of one's own generally boost self-confidence. Moreover, many young women wear head scarves as a voluntary expression of their faith and do not see it as a symbol of oppression.
