Zusammenfassung:The article addresses the changes & challenges of a transforming labor market. The initial focus is on new types of employment, going beyond the standard employment relationship. Subsequent to a specification of precarious work, an overview of the current research evidence regarding the association between precarious work & health is given. Main results of a questionnaire survey among female cleaners addressing the consequences of job insecurity on health are described. Concluding the results & recommendations of a European expert group supported by DG Employment of the EU Commission are presented, which deals with the impact of organizational restructuring on health & approaches to limit its health impact through health promotion (HIRES project).
