Zusammenfassung: | This paper analyses the distribution of direct payments in Spain at a provincial level. It is based on the individual data of payments of 2003 & the agricultural census of 1999. The distribution of direct payments is very uneven both in total amount, mean by producer & in relation to other structural indicators. The differences among provinces are 6 to 1 for the mean values by producer & up to 18 to 1 for the mean value by working unit. There are established three main areas by the level of payments. The area with the lowest levels is situated in the Mediterranean & in the North-Northwest provinces. The highest levels are on the axe Cordoba-Cadiz & in part of Castilla-Leon, Huesca, Badajoz, Alava and Guadalajara. The size is the most determinant factor in the variability of payments, while the relative area occupied by the olive trees is the main factor among the productions.
