Zusammenfassung:The article characterizes the deficit in the provision of sanitation's services in Brazil & discusses the main restrictions to extend investments to the sector. It analyzes some clarifying factors for the low investment, with prominence for the institutional indefinitions. It verifies in the current structure of offers, the characteristics of suppliers in relation to the operational & financial performance, to the investments done & to the origin of resources. When analyzing the investment indicators, verify differences between the types of suppliers. It compares the suppliers of regional services (state) & the locals, trying to evidence if a bigger decentralization of the decisions & the provision of the services generate efficiency profits. In the comparison of the public local suppliers with the private ones, it verifies possible results associated to the privatization. It makes recommendations of politics for the privatized model as for the public suppliers model, in order to guarantee to the sector, in one side, its capacity of indebtedness & investment &, in the other side, the globalization of the access.
