Zusammenfassung:Evidence is produced showing that Croatian constraints on extracting wh-elements from subordinate clauses inside relatives are less clear than in English: in the former, either subject or object of an embedded clause can be fronted to the beginning of the upper clause. Support is adduced for Leonardo Spalatin's argument that in listeners' processing of extractions, English requires a lot of analysis-by-synthesis, whereas Croatian is parsable on-line, as the sounds arrive. 3 References.
