Zusammenfassung: | Various historical sources from Medimurje, dated from the 13th to 20th centuries, are surveyed, & the changes in the pattern of anthroponyms leading from a single personal name through name + epithet & name + attributive syntagma to personal name + family name are traced. Different models are identified for male & female anthroponymy, & several variants in which personal & family names are combined are distinguished. The source & derivative motivation of Medimurje personal names are investigated, & the relative order between the first & family name elements is characterized. A set of rules & recommendations are formulated for first + family name combinations which facilitate their communicative functioning. 26 References. Adapted from the source document |
