Zusammenfassung:A review of Christina Y. Bethin's Polish Syllables: The Role of Prosody in Phonology and Morphology (Columbus, OH: Slavica Publishers, Inc, 1992 [see listing in IRPL, this issue]). Chapters on Polish nasal vowels, glides, vowel-zero alternations, & syllable structure & morphology are described & reacted to, with substantive commentary on the data, argumentation, & nonlinear analyses developed in the book. The questions of sonority peaks in Polish syllables, the distinguishing of individual syllables in Polish & consonant clusters that violate the sonority principle, & the treatment of these issues are also discussed. 11 References.
