Zusammenfassung: | Problems in designing computer-assisted language learning (CALL) are described from the viewpoint of managing communication among designers. Strategies are characterized for resolving miscommunications & for remedying problematic design features, & recommendations are made for improving coordination among experts engaged in developing CALL specifically & in designing advanced instructional systems generally. It is argued that design is an emergent phenomenon, resulting less from application of prior principles & functional specifications than from negotiation among project participants. 1 Table, 2 Figures, 62 References.
