met: A Method for Discriminating Metonymy and Metaphor by Computer

The met* method, a component of collative semantics implemented in a computer program titled meta5, is capable of distinguishing examples of metonymy from metaphor & from literalness & anomaly in English sentences. A review of pertinent literature on metaphor & metonymy is presented as is a glossary of key terms.
