Zusammenfassung:A dialectical model for the evolution of human communication systems is proposed wherein the contexts of sound & silence have alternated as dominant modes. The sequence: involuntary calls, gestures, speech, & writing is suggested for human evolutionary history. Data from a large number of neurological studies are presented as substantiation, & the inclusion - rather than the alienation - of emotion in ethnographic writing is urged. AA
